(AP) HENDERSON, Nev. With eleven Pro Bowl invitations, three first-team All-Pro honors, and almost unanimous recognition as the best left tackle of his generation, Trent Williams’ accomplishments are already deserving of a Hall of Fame career.

The chance to play in the Super Bowl was all that was lacking for the star of the San Francisco 49ers, who spent the first ten years of his career buried in the turmoil and incompetence of Washington.

Regarding Sunday’s championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Williams remarked, This is the peak.

You put in effort to get here. When you don’t think you have a chance to be here, it’s very depressing. This seems unattainable for the first ten years of my career. I’m really appreciative of how the past four years have gone for me.

Williams missed the previous season in Washington, but since moving to San Francisco in 2020, his career has taken off.

Due to a mishandled cancer diagnosis, he claimed to have mistrust for the front office and medical personnel, which caused him to be at odds with the organization when he declined to participate.

For a fifth-round pick and a potential third-round pick in the 2020 draft, the Niners selected Williams from Washington; it was a little price to pay for such a talented player.

When Williams signed a six-year, $138.1 million contract in free agency in 2021—having come dangerously close to leaving for Kansas City—he was able to shake off some rust from his first season with the Niners and begin to reach even greater heights.

He is an entirely different person. According to general manager John Lynch, He’s a different player. I dislike discussing topics pertaining to the Hall of Fame with athletes. But since he’ll be there and ought to get the first ballot, I’m not afraid to say that about him. A victory in this game would do more to solidify that.

Williams has done a great job arguing for the Hall. Pro Football Focus reports that he was selected as a first-team All-Pro the previous three seasons, during which he allowed just two sacks on 1,663 pass-blocking snaps.

He is also essential to San Francisco’s running game, as the Niners’ left-side running attack averages 5.9 yards per carry.

Christian McCaffrey, an All-Pro running back, stated, I think he’s the best player I’ve ever seen. He gives everyone a little confidence boost when he’s out there.

With Williams playing so well as the line’s anchor, the Niners have been able to allocate more resources to other areas, as the pay cap for the other four predicted Super Bowl starts is approximately $9 million.

Williams has two lockers in the locker room, one with his name and No. 71 and the other with the moniker Silverback and No. 71, demonstrating the respect he has received from his teammates. Williams was even granted further seclusion by the addition of a rope surrounding the space.

Williams claimed that although he was first punished by the offensive line for having an additional locker, everyone knew he deserved it.

All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner remarked, We just kind of stroll by and like, yeah, this is just kind of Trent’s little mall he has here. His personal space. He has already acquired a gold jacket. Thus, I’m rather certain that he is free to act however he pleases and that no one will hold him accountable.

All they want is for 35-year-old Williams to live a long and healthy life. Williams is aware that his career is coming to an end rather than just getting started, but he isn’t quite ready to put up his boots and go into retirement.

With three years remaining on his contract, the Niners are hopeful he can serve as the team’s offensive line’s mainstay through the end of the agreement.

Williams remarked, I don’t even like to guess on it. At this point, I’m not even concerned about the expiration date. I consider myself really fortunate to be playing at a high level after 14 years.

I’m not worried about how many I have left at all. I believe I will tackle it in the same manner each year. And I know I can hang it up when I’m not the same.
