Breaking News: ‘I’d be wrong if that’s where my mindset was at’. 49ers QB Brock Purdy lament.

One player the San Francisco 49ers don’t need to worry about this season is quarterback Brock Purdy, as they manage two high-profile contract disputes: Brent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk.

It will be one year before the Pro Bowl quarterback can sign a deal. Given that, he isn’t considering a payoff in the future.

“Guys chat about it in the locker room and whatnot, and that’s how we all find out about it,” Purdy said over the weekend to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones. “But with my circumstances, that’s so far down the road for me. And I have to be here at camp, in this moment, to be present. To be the best I can be for this team this year, I have to improve and develop now.”

With 4,280 passing yards in just 16 games, Purdy broke the team record for the most passing yards in a single season in 2023. He also topped all signal-callers with a passer rating of 113.0 and an average of 9.6 yards per attempt. As he led the Niners to another Super Bowl, any remaining doubts about his future at center were dispelled.

A distinctly larger Purdy stated that his sole objective is to complete the task and hoist the Lombardi Trophy this time around.

Purdy stated, “Clearly, we have a goal at hand, going all the way, winning, and finishing it.” “So that’s how I’m thinking right now. I would be incorrect if my thinking was to be sucked into the money, the statistics, and all that type of things later on, and that’s not the case.”

The money will be his if he helps the Niners overcome their Super Bowl deficit. When evaluating any future agreements for Aiyuk and Williams, the San Francisco front staff must factor in Purdy’s future salary.

Titans sign unrestricted safety Quandre Diggs signs a one-year contract.

Another former Pro Bowl player is joining the Titans’ secondary.

Safety of free agentsAccording to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Insider, Quandre Diggs is inking a one-year contract with Tennessee on Sunday.

According to Rapoport, play-time and performance-based incentives are included in the agreement, which has a $3 million base value and could potentially be worth up to $5 million.

Diggs joins Tennessee after more than four seasons in the west with the Seahawks, where he was selected for three consecutive Pro Bowls between 2020 and 2022. He never missed a start throughout that time and finished with 14 interceptions, 24 passes defensed, and 229 tackles.

In his eighth season in 2023, the 31-year-old recorded a career-high 95 tackles, but his other stats declined with five passes defensed and one interception in 17 games.

After a protracted period of free agency, Diggs will now try to make a fresh start with the Titans.

Along with that, Diggs and his former teammate Jamal Adams were reunited. After serving as the starting tandem for the last four seasons in Seattle, Adams and Diggs were cut earlier this offseason on the same day because of cap space issues. Tennessee signed Adams in the first part of July.

With training camp and the preseason remaining, Diggs and Adams will battle for playing time in a safety room that already includes Elijah Molden and Amani Hooker, in an attempt to establish themselves on a new club.

On August 10, the Titans’ three-game preseason schedule begins with a home game against the San Francisco 49ers.
