Based on his personal experience, Samuel is aware that a trade request does not indicate a termination of Aiyuk’s relationship with the organization that drafted him.
“Let me just say that you have a lot on your mind, and it’s a stressful time,” Samuel said to Kay Adams during Friday’s 49ers training camp episode of “Up & Adams.” “Having gone through it once before, I can relate to everything. You have no idea what’s going on here, what’s going on there, or what’s being said.
However, in the end, these are simply discussions, and some things are acceptable to take personally and some are not. The trade request is merely a necessary step in the contentious negotiation process. When you don’t get your way, you just wander around wondering, “Is this how it’s going to go?” And your thoughts are just straying.
“In general, it’s just a trying moment, but I think he’ll pull through.”
After his contract negotiations with the 49ers stalled two years ago, Samuel asked to be traded out of the Bay; nevertheless, he ultimately concluded his hold-out by re-signing with the team on a three-year, $73.5 million contract. While noting that the star wide receiver wants an adjustment to a non-guaranteed fourth year, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo claimed on Friday that Aiyuk is in agreement with San Francisco on the first three years of a proposed contract.
Five 49ers Who Must Make an Impact vs the Saints
These five 49ers need to perform well in the second preseason game against the Saints, whether it’s to make the final roster cuts or to start.
Malik Mustapha S
Rookie security In the first preseason game versus the Tennessee Titans, Malik Mustapha was outstanding. He demonstrated a little bit of every quality expected of a safety, and he did it with unrelenting intensity on each and every rep. Mustapha must continue to play at that caliber when against the Saints.
This is due to the possibility that he would acquire a starting position beside Ji’Ayir Brown. It’s unlikely that Talanoa Hufanga will be ready to play against the New York Jets in Week 1. There’s an opening at safety as a result.Although Mustapha showed promise in his first preseason game, he needs to repeat the performance this week to persuade Shanahan to start him instead of George Odum.
CB Green Renardo
Renardo Green, a rookie cornerback, is also eyeing a starting position.Isaac Yiadom is recovering from an ankle injury, so Green needs to seize the opportunity. Yiadom appeared to be certain of starting opposite Charvarius Ward prior to his injury.
Green can now start, provided he can look the part, thanks to his injuries. In his own game against the Titans, he performed admirably. It wasn’t horrible at all, but it wasn’t very noteworthy either. Given that he is demonstrating his ability to play both inside and outside the field, this game against the Saints may be his chance to make an impression.
OL Puni Dominick
Do you see a pattern here? Yes, with a starting position on the line, Dominick Puni is another youngster that needs to make an impression. The 49ers are a club that is in the running for the Super Bowl, so it is absurd to assume that three rookies can start, especially considering none of them were selected in the first round. Puni is the 49ers’ most likely rookie to start out of all of them.
The same rationales as Mustapha and Green apply.Due to injury to the original starting or starters, Puni gets an opportunity to start. He has already assembled a strong game. He must now stack them together and repeat the process. If Brock Purdy is kept safe on his side, he will really prove his worth when the starters get a series or two.
LB Dee Winters
During OTAs and training camp, second-year linebacker Dee Winters has garnered significant attention.Winters has more chances to make an impression now that Dre Greenlaw is recovering. In the Titans match, Winters performed ok. He appeared strong at first, but as the game progressed, he gradually lost his strength.
When the Saints visit town, he must prove that the excitement surrounding him has been warranted. Along with Fred Warner, De’Vondre Campbell is the starter, but if Winters performs well in this game, there will be a greater argument made for him to start. He contributed enough against the Titans to be discussed. All he has to do is correct the errors from that game and demonstrate that he is a potential starter.
WR Ronnie Bell
Ronnie Bell, a wide receiver, is one guy who might not make the final roster cuts. He didn’t make up for it against the Titans and had a mixed training camp experience. Bell performed merely ok in that game. He didn’t make much of an impression on special teams and lost chances to make an impression as a receiver.
He needs to play well against the Saints and create a tremendous comeback to impress Shanahan and the coaches. It needs to be excellent enough, at the very least, to make them consider what he could accomplish. In this manner, it will position him to shine in the preseason finale and throughout the upcoming practice week. If not, he can bid farewell to a roster position.
