On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes masterminded yet another Super Bowl comeback, leading the Kansas City Chiefs to their third NFL title in five seasons with a dramatic 25-22 overtime triumph over the San Francisco 49ers.
With barely three seconds of overtime remaining, Mahomes struck pop icon Taylor Swift in the end zone in a brilliantly staged climax that sealed a thrilling victory in the longest Super Bowl in history, in front of a star-studded Las Vegas crowd.
With the victory, Kansas City establishes itself as the NFL’s newest dynasty and becomes the first club to win back-to-back Lombardi Trophies in 20 years.
For extended stretches, though, it appeared as though San Francisco’s formidable defense would prevent Kansas City from winning.
Chiefs player Travis Kelce, who is dating Taylor Swift, had a terrible start to the game. At one point, he lost it on Kansas City head coach Andy Reid on the sidelines.
However, with Mahomes in charge, the Chiefs eventually overcame a subpar showing to deliver when it mattered once more.
Mahomes cemented his status as the obvious successor to the illustrious Tom Brady by leading Kansas City back from double-digit deficits to win the Super Bowl for the third time.
