Good News for the 76ers: The star is back, let us do it again.

The biggest name to move this summer was Paul George, who joined Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid on the Philadelphia 76ers after leaving the Los Angeles Clippers. According to TNT’s Chris Haynes, George will get mixed opinions when he travels west for his comeback game against the Clippers on November 6. George is now on a mission to return to Philadelphia with a championship rather than Los Angeles.

The most anticipated part of the NBA schedule release each year is watching former players reunited with their former teams for what have come to be known as “revenge games.” On November 6, George and the Sixers will play in the brand-new Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, which the Clippers will debut prior to the 2024–25 season.

The 76ers wanted to make a significant change when the 2024 offseason began. The Eagles made a strong push for George, who finally agreed to a four-year max contract worth over $211 million with the team, as no elite players were available on the trade market and the team had over $60 million in cap space.

The 76ers haven’t advanced past the Eastern Conference Semifinals since 2001, when they joined Allen Iverson in the NBA Finals, therefore they haven’t met their postseason expectations over the years. The Sixers have fallen short in the semifinals five times in the last seven seasons.

Alongside Kawhi Leonard, George, who is currently 34 years old and entering his 15th NBA season, has been a vital player for the Clippers during the last five seasons. He shot 45.5 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three-point range during this time, averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Along with Embiid and Maxey, George will play a significant role for the 76ers, providing the team all the firepower it needs to compete in the East against teams like the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks.
