Regarding AC Milan’s English midfielder:
He has picked up an injury to the right hamstring. A new clinical and instrumental evaluation will be conducted in 7-10 days.
As for Alvaro Morata, it is a strain trauma in the adductor region. Tests have ruled out injuries to the adductor muscles.
In addition to them, Florenzi, Bennacer, Jovic, Pulisic, and Okafor are also currently sidelined due to injuries.
Milan made it four wins on the spin in the Champions League by beating the Serbian side 2-1, but they needed a late goal to spare their blushes which Tammy Abraham got. He came off the bench in the first half after a couple of rather worrying injuries.
In the 25th minute Loftus-Cheek and Yunus Musah both went down at opposite ends of the field in obvious discomfort. The American continued, while the former Chelsea man was replaced by Samuel Chukwueze.
Things got even worse a few minutes later when Morata took a tumble and fell awkwardly. He tried to play on but couldn’t, so a second change was needed to bring Abraham on.
As we have learned, Loftus-Cheek has suffered a lesion to his right biceps femoris (a muscle in the back of the thigh that helps with hip and knee movement). A new evaluation will be performed in 7-10 days.
Morata has suffered an elongation trauma in the adductor region but the scan excluded a lesion, which means his return should come sooner.
Alessandro Florenzi, Ismael Bennacer, Luka Jovic, Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor are currently out due to injury, leading to a crisis in attack.
Bad news for AC Milan ahead of their league clash against Genoa on Sunday as Alvaro Morata and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have both suffered injuries. The pair were subbed off early in last night’s 2-1 win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, which put the ‘Rossoneri’ on course to qualify for the knockout phase.
The former Chelsea midfielder was replaced by Chukwueze after 28 minutes of play with an injured right adductor, but another blow quickly followed as Morata was also forced off with an injury less than a minute later. The Spaniard made way for another ex-Blues star, Tammy Abraham, due to a problem with his left hamstring.
Although recovery timelines are yet to be confirmed by the club, it will be difficult to see the duo feature in the game against Patrick Viera’s Genoa at the San Siro. After losing Christian Pulisic for the rest of the year with a muscle tear, Milan see themselves without another blow in the attacking department.
Morata, who has been no stranger to injuries this season, has started 13 of his 16 matches for the ‘Rossoneri’ so far, finding the back of the net on 5 occasions. Meanwhile, Loftus-Cheek has seen fewer minutes from kick-off compared to his teammate upfront. The Englishman has struggled to shine this season, with only 6 starts from 13 matches in the league under new manager Paulo Fonseca.
