Easter weekend was spent off by the Alabama Crimson Tide football team before they returned for two more weeks of spring practice. With enthusiasm obvious across the program, Kalen DeBoer’s first spring as head coach has been largely good.
The first significant setback for the program occurred last Tuesday when Jalen Hale, a sophomore receiver for Alabama, sustained a serious knee injury. After leaving the Mal Moore Athletic Facility in an ambulance on Saturday, Hale updated his status on social media and thanked supporters for their well wishes.
It wasn’t as bad as it could have been, so I’m blessed and thankful for that. I will return stronger than ever, thanks to everyone’s support. “I’m doing good everyone. I’m out of the hospital i’m moving around a little bit just waiting on my next process and get to my rehabilitation,” Hale tweeted on Saturday.
With five receptions for 148 yards and a touchdown in 13 games, Hale wrapped up his first campaign. DeBoer stated that while he heals from his injury, he will miss the rest of spring practice.
Hale tweeted on Thursday, “Good morning everyone just wanna say thank you for all the text and phone calls I have got so far. I really appreciate the support, love, and prayers.”
Before the traditional spring A-Day game takes place inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday, April 13, the Crimson Tide will have six more practices. With Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice, and Germie Bernard leading the way, Alabama will still have seven scholarship wide receivers to assist them through the remainder of the spring and perform well on A-Day.

With the addition of his fourth commitment of the month, head coach Kalen DeBoer is gaining ground in the recruiting process.
After barely two months on the job, Kalen DeBoer, the new head football coach at Alabama, is getting used to his new position in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide are in their second week of spring practice, and under the new leadership, excitement is growing for the program.
The recruiting path is brimming with positivity as DeBoer secured his fourth commitment of March on Wednesday.
On the 247Sports YouTube channel on Wednesday, 4-star linebacker Darrell “Duke” Johnson of Dodge County High School in Eastman, Georgia, declared his commitment to Alabama.
“Alabama and I just clicked, and we had a great coaching staff.” The coaching staff is good. It’s the greatest fit for me, and Coach Hitch and I get along great. Coach Kane, the defensive coordinator, and I also have a wonderful relationship and chat every day,” Johnson remarked.
Johnson, who is 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports Composite as the No. 3 linebacker, No. 7 player in Georgia, and No. 28 overall player in the Class of 2025.
He rejected Southern California, Florida State, Texas A&M, and UCF in favor of Alabama.
Following his pledge, Johnson stated, “I just want to come in and make a big impact as a freshman and get to know the scheme and the playbook and just get ready to play.”
For Dodge County, he has played defensive back, quarterback, and running back. In his junior year, he racked up 103 tackles.
Alabama is now the 10th class in the cycle with six commitments in the Class of 2025. Johnson ranks fourth among defensive players and second among linebackers in the class.
