Gillespie is designated as assistant head coach, and Roach is made associate head coach.
Tuscaloosa, Alabama:On Wednesday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer made the announcement that he has promoted and kept both Robert Gillespie and Freddie Roach on the Crimson Tide coaching staff.
It was quite evident to me after meeting both of these individuals that having Freddie and G on the staff was going to be critical to our success, DeBoer stated.
These guys are some of the top coaches in the nation; they have excellent relationships with our athletes and are excellent recruiters.
Beginning his fifth season at his alma mater, Roach will also be the associate head coach in addition to his defensive line coaching responsibilities for the Crimson Tide.
Four of Alabama’s defensive linemen have been sent to the NFL by Roach, and this season, Justin Eboigbe is anticipated to join that group.
In addition to leading the running backs, Gillespie will take on the role of assistant head coach for the Tide in his fourth season in Tuscaloosa.
He has coached three NFL running backs while at UA, including Brian Robinson Jr., the starting quarterback for the Washington Commanders, and first-round selections Jahmyr Gibbs and Najee Harris.In April, Jase McClellan is anticipated to be added to that list.
The suggested terms and conditions of this proposed appointment have been communicated to the relevant members of the Board of Trustees; nonetheless, the Board of Trustees still has the authority to approve the financial terms.
