Sad news: Alexander Zverev announced his departure in……..

Zverev beats Norrie in five sets to go to the Australian Open quarterfinals.

The sixth-seeded German won 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(10-3) over Cameron Norrie to go to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. In a thrilling match full of twists and turns, Zverev held his composure in a deciding-set Match Tie-break to move to 8-1 Down Under this season.

At the end of the day, this is the Grand Slam. In an on-court interview, Zverev, who led Germany to win at the United Cup in 2024, stated that everyone is performing at their peak. Cam was clearly playing incredible tennis, and I’m just glad to be finished.

Zverev’s mix of large serving and solid baseline play was just enough to fend off Norrie’s ferocious charge, who repeatedly came to the net or used drop shots to break his opponent’s flow. Zverev, on the other hand, drastically improved his level in the deciding tie-break, winning eight of the final nine points to secure a four-hour, five-minute triumph.

Zverev won 54 games, including 15 aces, to extend his perfect Lexus ATP Head2Head record against Norrie to 5-0. The No. 6 in the Pepperstone ATP Rankings is currently 24-8 at the Australian Open, where he made it to the semi-finals in 2020.

In his third quarter-final at Melbourne Park, Zverev will face second seed Carlos Alcaraz, aiming for his first Grand Slam victory. The second-seeded Spaniard easily defeated Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 on Monday night at Rod Laver Arena.
