Tim Henman raises the lid after receiving an invitation as two-time Wimbledon winner Andy Murray “throws a retirement party” at his £5 million Surrey property and “celebrates his career with friends and family.”
Andy Murray threw a party at his £5 million Surrey estate to mark the end of his storied career.
The Scot reportedly welcomed Wimbledon legend Tim Henman to his home, where he resides with his wife Kim and their four kids.
The announcement comes just two weeks after Murray’s illustrious career came to an abrupt end following his and Dan Evans’ elimination from the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics.
As he arrived in the French city before the Games in July, the two-time Wimbledon winner announced on social media.
The British tennis legend is celebrating his retirement with a party at his £5 million mansion, despite the disappointment of his fans not being able to watch him play again, according to Express.
The headliners of Team GB, Murray and Evans, were knocked out of the Olympics after losing to Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz of the USA at Roland Garros.
After their incredible comeback victories and performances, many fans questioned whether Murray regretted his choice, even as they advanced to the quarterfinals.
The tennis legend seemed to be enjoying his well-earned retirement, though.
Tim Henman, one of the select few invited, verified to Express that the sportsman is content after hanging up his racket.
“I saw him last Friday; he and Kim were hosting a retirement celebration at his place for approximately thirty guests.”
“He was playing really well there, and I believe he understands that now is the perfect moment for him to call it quits.
“After overcoming numerous physical obstacles in the last few years, maybe now is the right time for him to take a moment to reflect on his incredible career, the victories and titles he’s earned, and everything that goes along with it.
Murray has always suffered from injuries, particularly hip and ankle issues, which have been a major factor in his decision to leave professional tennis.
