How Joshua turned £15,000 first pay to £500M career earnings

In the boxing industry, stories of people going from poverty to wealth frequently get the attention of viewers, but few have the incredible climb of Anthony Joshua. Joshua’s story, which began with a measly £15,000 payment for his first professional fight, is a monument to his unshakable perseverance, unwavering passion, and unwavering pursuit of excellence. Today, Joshua has earned an incredible £500,140,000 in career earnings. Author Peter Akinbo writes

Joshua developed his skills in amateur boxing before the glamour and flash of the professional circuit, earning praise and honors that hinted at his future supremacy.

Joshua’s smooth transition into the professional ranks, along with his flawless amateur record and the gold medal he won at the 2012 Olympics, heralded a new era in heavyweight boxing.

His first opponent in the professional ranks was Emanuele Leo, with whom he promptly got his first professional paycheck by stopping Leo in the opening frame at the 02 Arena, earning £15,000 for the fight.

After winning his next two fights by knockout against Paul Butlin and Hrvoje Kisicek, Joshua went on to earn £50,000. After that, he defeated Dorian Darch, who was also knocked out by Joshua, for a pay day of £75,000.

His eighth professional fight against Konstantin Airich, whom he also defeated by TKO and won a £1 million purse, would be the occasion of his first million-pound payday. Joshua advanced through the ranks gradually, his reputation and financial status growing with each victory.

Joshua has always been different from his peers because of his ambition. Joshua stated his goals to become the first billionaire in boxing in an open interview from April 2017; he wanted to not only rule the globe, but also transcend it.

Joshua stated, “My initial goal was to become a multi-millionaire.

However, due to rising real estate values, some common individuals, such as grandparents, are now worth millions of dollars. The current paradigm therefore holds that I must be a billionaire.

After winning £3 million for his victory over Dillian Whyte, Joshua went on to make £1 million from four more fights, £2 million from victories over Kevin Johnson and Gary Cornish, and £14.5 million from his final three fights.

But Joshua’s decisive victory over Wladimir Klitschko the same month propelled him to prominence in the boxing world. The victory not only cemented his title as heavyweight champion but also greatly increased his profits, as the bout had a whooping £15 million purse.

His £66 million payoff from his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr., in which he defeated the American who had given him his first defeat, is evidence of his continuing appeal and drawing power.

Joshua’s greatest payoff from a fight came from his split decision loss against Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch. Joshua made £20 million from the first fight, and he made a staggering £70 million from the rematch in Saudi Arabia.

Unfazed by disappointments, like his losses to Usyk, Joshua demonstrated his tenacity by winning his next four fights, earning a total of £86. His largest payday came from his most recent match, where he earned £40 million against Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.

With each victory, he not only enhanced his legend in the ring but also increased his net worth, solidifying his position as one of boxing’s most lucrative stars.

Joshua has his sights firmly fixed on the future, and his desire for achievement is as strong as ever. The 34-year-old, who has a record of 28-3-0 (25 KOs), is now aiming to win the heavyweight title three times.
