In the second round of their megafight, Anthony Joshua KOs Francis Ngannou.

The dream of Anthony Joshua to regain his title is drawing close as he was able to defeat his opponent.

In the second round, Anthony Joshua stunned Francis Ngannou with a knockout to put an end to any possibility of a surprise upset and move him one step closer to his dream of becoming a three-time world champion. With a powerful right hand in the opening round, Joshua knocked Ngannou to the ground. Joshua’s victory puts him in the running to become the world’s heavyweight champion three times. He twice took out the former UFC heavyweight champion in the second round, and the last strike rendered Ngannou unable to move forward.

Joshua’s career-best knockout comes after his recent noteworthy victories over Otto Wallin and Robert Helenius. It rekindled his desire to compete for a global championship. Saudi Arabia had been looking forward to this fight because they believed that the winner would be able to challenge Oleksandr Usyk or Tyson Fury for the undisputed heavyweight title. After the battle, Joshua remarked, as cited by Sky Sports: “I wanted a piece of that, because when I saw the fight with Fury, I thought dam***, this guy could fight.”His status as a great champion and inspiration shouldn’t diminish his ability. He is welcome to return. I advised him not to give up boxing. He’s fought the best thus far in his two fights.

How it took place

Early in the bout, the former unified world champion showed off his remarkable quickness, stunning Ngannou with a powerful right punch and gaining control with deft maneuvers. Joshua took advantage of Ngannou’s southpaw stance in the second round, twice taking him down with strong right punches that left him unconscious and in need of medical care. With this win, Joshua now has a 28-3 career record and makes a strong statement, especially to Tyson Fury, who was there at ringside.
