All of Sam Pittman’s remarks following Arkansas’s season-ending defeat by Missouri
Sam Pittman, the coach of Arkansas, might return in 2024, and September will not be a bitter memory of the season-ending match from 2023.
But, please, just six days after it was announced that Pittman would return to Fayetteville, the Hogs’ 48-14 loss to Missouri was not ideal for Pittman, athletic director Hunter Yurachek, or anybody else connected to the Arkansas football program.
Before two touchdowns in the fourth quarter elicited applause from the roughly 5,000 Arkansas fans who remained in the game that late, the Razorbacks were behind 41-0. Some of the cheers were mocking.
As usual, Pittman met down with members of the Arkansas media after the game and gave his honest response to each and every one of their questions.
It would be an understatement to suggest that some of his admirers weren’t happy with his answers.
See here for the exact words from the coach.
introductory remarks
We’ll just start by congratulating Missouri and saying thank you to all of the fans that came out to support us during the Thanksgiving holiday. We were aware that they had a strong, physically gifted football team.
They performed admirably in today’s game. We clearly didn’t. They deserve congratulations. They had a team dynamic. You’re a great running back. We struggled and were unable to stop him.
The injury to KJ Jefferson
KJ bent his knee excessively. It won’t be extremely horrible, in my opinion. In actuality, he was attempting to come and do this, that, and other things. We allowed him to go until halftime.
I didn’t want to put him back out there at that moment because he wasn’t going to be running at full speed. Despite his attempts, he said he was unable to attend. Jacolby is a rough guy.
He seemed to play very hard, in my opinion. There was simply not enough time for him to toss the football. Not one. Nor, for that matter, did KJ.
We were beaten in the first place. O-line. Jacolby himself gave up a sack by running back on a hot, empty shield. You could say he was tough and really gritty, but it would be difficult to rate his performance because he never had time to throw the football.
Can you help with the Jacolby experience?
He is an opponent. You observed. Additionally, he is athletic and such. Moreover, rough. He did a good job of leading the team, in my opinion. It goes without saying that he guided us to a few scores in the fourth quarter.
made a beautiful pass for a touchdown. But aside from his character and his resilience in getting back up to play, it’s pretty difficult to criticize him.
