Gabriel Agbonlahor has resigned as Aston Villa’s captain with immediate effect and apologized to the fans.
The attacker will be available to play for Villa again on Monday, after the club stated that an inquiry into his off-field conduct had been completed.
Villa suspended Agbonlahor after a picture emerged apparently showing him partying following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.
The 29-year-old, who is presently Villa’s longest-serving player, was earlier examined this season after being photographed on holiday in Dubai holding a shisha pipe, but the club chose not to pursue further action.
