Athing Mu now has a reason to smile after saying “Yes” to her fiancée and sharing the stunning pictures on social media, following a dreadful 2024 season.
Following a tumultuous season, Athing Mu concluded hers with a broad smile on her face when her fiancée—whose identity is still unknown—put in a proposal.
The former Olympic champion was ecstatic and graciously posted pictures of the events on her Instagram page. The 22-year-old celebrated her successful season finale by cheerfully saying yes to her prince charming.
Before she posts any additional pictures, her fiancé can be seen getting down on one knee and putting a ring on her finger in the first picture she posted to Instagram.
“In a year full of noes, Jesus has blessed me with a YES!” was the caption.
The former world champion, however, has not had the best of seasons following his fall during the U.S. Olympic trials, which forced him to miss the Olympic Games in Paris.
The global 800m silver champion had delayed the competition because of a minor injury, so she was only getting started. Due to the injury, she was unable to compete at the Prefontaine Classic, where she was scheduled to face Olympic and reigning world champions Mary Moraa and Keely Hodgkinson.
The American got off to a fantastic start at the U.S. Olympic trials, placing third in the heats and going on to win the semifinal. She finished eighth after falling in the final.
Mu tried to get back at the Holloway Pro Classic after the heartbreak, but he faltered and finished fifth. She hasn’t competed since, but she’ll probably be back on the track come race season.
