Orlando:The 16th-ranked UCF baseball team visits Stetson on Wednesday to begin a four-game road trip this week.
The Sunshine State game on Wednesday is scheduled to begin with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. at Conrad Park’s Melching Field. ESPN+ will provide live streaming of the match. Live stats may be seen at GoHatters.com, and live audio can be accessed at UCFKnights.com.
The Knights are rated as high as No. 16 by the NCBWA this week after winning their fourth straight Big 12 Conference series over the weekend. They have also risen in the national rankings. Additionally, UCF is placed 19th by Baseball America and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, and 17th by D1Baseball and Perfect Game.
Following their three-game victory over Kansas State last weekend, UCF has won eight of their last ten games. The Black and Gold won the first game of the K-State series on Friday, 7-4, but lost the second game on Saturday, 4-3. The series was then taken by the Knights as they triumphed 6-1 in the rematch.
Going 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, and an RBI, junior first baseman Lex Boedicker virtually single-handedly assisted the Black and Gold in winning Friday’s opener against the Wildcats. and six runs batted in. Boedicker had a two-run double in the third, a two-run homer in the sixth, and a two-run double in the eighth. The six RBIs marks the most by a Knight on the season and Boedicker’s four-hit outing matches his previous mark for the single-game team-high in that category.
Jack Zyska, a senior outfielder, hit a home run in the eighth inning of Saturday’s game, but it wasn’t enough as K-State held on for a 4-3 victory. Early in the game, the Wildcats had a 2-0 lead, but the Black and Gold answered with two runs in the fourth to square the score. Zyska and Boedicker both had RBI hits during the inning. Tyson Neighbors of K-State entered the game on the mound and assisted the Wildcats in winning after KSU responded with two runs in the fifth and Zyska attempted to ignite a UCF rally with a single home run in the eighth.
