Breaking news: Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mike White announced his departure following…

Anthony Goins, a seasoned coach with a successful coaching career behind him from Boston College, joined Mike White’s team in May as an assistant coach.

Several new employees have joined the Bulldogs after White was hired in 2022. Goins comes in after spending the previous three seasons with Boston College in a comparable capacity.

Goins declared, “I’m ecstatic to be joining Georgia basketball.” “Over the past two years, Coach White and his team have built the Georgia program to incredible heights. As soon as I arrived on campus, I could sense the excitement and momentum. I’m really grateful to Coach White for providing me with this chance. Over the past three years, Boston College’s staff, coach Grant, and everyone else have been amazing.

Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia was attended by Goins, who was originally from Greensboro, North Carolina. Goins attended St. Johns after high school, where he assisted with women’s basketball workouts and played as a practice player for the men’s basketball team. Goins eventually earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from St. John’s in 2008.

Goins, whose track record is centered on enhancing basketball programs, worked as Earl Grant’s assistant coach at Boston College for the previous three years. Every year Goins was employed by the Eagles, they experienced an improvement in their record. Goins most recently assisted in leading the Eagles to a 20-16 record and an NIT berth in the 2023–2024 campaign.

Goins worked for head coach Brad Brownell at Clemson for two seasons before joining Boston College. At the conclusion of the 2020–2021 season, he assisted in leading the Tigers to a 16–8 record and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Before his time at Clemson, Groins spent 2 seasons on staff with Quinnipiac. During the 2018-2019 season, he helped oversee the program’s first winning season in five years while also helping the team earn its fifth-ever postseason berth with a bid to the Collegeinsider.com Invitational Tournament (CIT). Groins also helped develop three ALL-MAAC guards, including First Team ALL-MAAC award winner Cameron Young.

Goins also boasted three successful seasons on the Yale coaching staff under head coach James Jones from 2014-2017. During his first season with the team, the Bulldogs finished 22-10 overall and earned their first Ivy League Title since 2002. During the 2015-2016 season, Yale improved to 23-7 overall, setting school records for most wins in a season (23), best home record (12-0) and best Ivy League record that season (13-1).
