Ben Shelton vs Alexander Bublik: 2024 Madrid Open – Preview & Prediction
Ben Shelton wants to build on his impressive start at the 2024 Madrid Open when he takes on Alexander Bublik.
Shelton spent a lot of time on clay for the first time in his career last year, and it wasn’t easy. It took him some time to win a few matches because he wasn’t a natural fit on it.
He’s already taken home a clay trophy this year, although from Houston, where the clay plays a little differently than much of Europe. He missed the Monte-Carlo Masters in order to recuperate, but he returned to the red dirt in Madrid and defeated Tomas Machac 6-0, 6-2.
Because of the altitude’s significant benefits to his service, the American will have a terrific time in Madrid. Bublik is far more unpredictable, but he will also gain from the same thing. Though he’s been taking things more seriously this year, there are some things he does on the tennis court that he probably won’t grow out of.
Head-to-head:
Shelton and Bublik are no strangers to the clay court. That was in Rome last year, and Bublik prevailed in three sets. Though I think Shelton has a great shot under current circumstances, this one also has the potential to be really complex.
Bublik will face several challenges as a result of his might, but the Kazakhstani can overcome it. He performed admirably in his matchup here in the second round, and he ought to do so now.

Prediction:
All things considered, I still believe Shelton has a good chance of winning because I believe he is more determined to succeed and will work harder to do so. The serve is more stable than Bublik’s, which may be erratic, and has the potential to be a powerful weapon.
Prediction: Ben Shelton to win in two sets.
