Joe Burrow on Dan Pitcher’s Promotion to Bengals Offensive Coordinator: ‘Wouldn’t be The Player I am Today Without Him’

Cincinnati: As he gets ready for a change on the offensive coaching staff, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow offered his thoughts on Dan Pitcher’s ascension to offensive coordinator.

Pitcher, who is 37 years old, joined the company in 2016. He was elevated by Zac Taylor to quarterbacks coach in 2020, the year Joe Burrow was selected in the draft. He is now replacing Brian Callahan.

“Our bond is the best it gets, Burrow stated in a press statement. Without him, I couldn’t be the player I am today. He has spent years getting ready for this. He works extremely hard and passionately at what he do.

Along with Pitcher, Burrow has developed into a player deserving of the largest deal in NFL history, and in 2024 he will attempt to lead Cincinnati to that elusive first Super Bowl victory.

CINCINNATI — League sources tell All Bengals that the Bengals and Dan Pitcher have reached an agreement for Pitcher to become the team’s next offensive coordinator.

Following Brian Callahan’s appointment as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach, Cincinnati moved quickly.

Pitcher, who is 37 years old, joined the company in 2016. He was elevated by Zac Taylor to quarterbacks coach in 2020, the year Joe Burrow was selected in the draft.

Pitcher has not only assisted Burrow in becoming one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks, but he has also led Jake Browning through the last seven games of 2023, helping him finish with a 4-3 record. With Burrow sidelined due to a wrist injury that ended the season, Browning maintained the offense and earned a winning record.

The previous January, before the AFC Championship Game, the Bengals’ standout quarterback gave Pitcher high marks.

In front of the AFC Championship Game on January 27, Burrow remarked, We mesh so well in the meeting room and on the sidelines. Our working relationship is excellent. I always say this, but given my skill set and what I do, I couldn’t ask for a better collection of coaches.

Pitchers attracted a lot of interest from players all over the league. He was supposed to meet with the Patriots, Raiders, and Saints, but the Bengals were able to work out a deal to keep him in Cincinnati.

Though it’s uncertain what they’ll do as quarterback coaches, Pitcher’s Brad Kragthorpe’s promotion feels like the right move.

Kragthorpe has worked under Taylor since 2019 and was the Bengals’ assistant quarterbacks coach the previous season.
