With his brother, Michael, a wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, Prince Strachan of Boise State doesn’t have to travel far to pick up tips from an NFL player.
However, Strachan won’t turn down the chance to speak with any NFL player who will give him a few minutes of their time.
During a recent phone conversation with Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, he was given that opportunity.
Since being selected by the Buccaneers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Godwin has amassed 6,690 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns.
After the 2019 season, he was selected to the Pro Bowl, and in 2021, he assisted Tampa Bay in winning Super Bowl LV.
The best tip Godwin provided Strachan, a sophomore from the Bahamas, according to him was to not get caught up in trying to immediately master every facet of playing receiver.
He advised me not to attempt to work on every task in a single day, stated Strachan. There is a procedure. He advised staying true to your strategy and procedure and you should succeed.
Godwin and Strachan had a chat arranged by Dirk Koetter, the offensive coordinator at Boise State. When the former Penn State wide receiver was selected by the Buccaneers, Koetter was their head coach.
