In an attempt to discredit Donald Trump, Joe Biden hinted that his uncle might have been devoured by cannibals following the downing of his jet during World War II.
The US president honored his late uncle Ambrose J. Finnegan’s service in the war by going to a war memorial close to his homeland of Pennsylvania.
“He conducted reconnaissance flights over New Guinea in single-engine aircraft. Someone couldn’t make it, so he volunteered. After the incident, Mr. Biden told reporters, “He was shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals in New Guinea at the time.”
“They never recovered his body.”
However, it doesn’t seem like his uncle’s passing was caused by hostility or that there is any sign of such.or any proof that cannibals were involved in any way in the failure to locate his remains, the US Department of Defense claims.
According to military records, he perished in May 1944 when the reconnaissance plane he was in experienced an engine failure and crashed in the Pacific Ocean off the northern coast of New Guinea.
