Jayson Tatum is about to enter his seventh season as a member of the Boston Celtics (wow). Throughout his tenure, he’s been able to consistently help the Cs be amongst the league’s top contenders, appearing in four Eastern Conference Finals and one NBA Finals.

Despite the large amount of success at his young age of 25, Tatum has greater goals when it comes to his place in the pantheon of great Celtics players. He recently gave some insight to The Messenger’s Jeff Goodman.

Tatum said to Goodman, “I would love to be on the Mount Rushmore of Celtics.” “Paul Pierce, [Bill] Russell, [Larry] Bird, and those guys.” They made the path possible. Chips are the one item that each of those guys has. To even be regarded as one of those people, I have to reach the summit of the mountain. I want to go down in history as an all-time great and a victor.

In addition to being crowned a champion in Boston, the native of St. Louis hopes to be acknowledged for his contributions on defense. He told Goodman that his goal is to be selected for an NBA All-Defensive squad.
