Following a strong start, a Red Sox star might be traded to the Dodgers in a blockbuster deal.
It sounds like the Red Sox might make a trade involving one of their best pitchers.
The Boston Red Sox will have a difficult decision to make with one of their top pitchers.
Boston has gotten off to a better start than many expected, particularly given the team’s injuries, and is currently 14-12 on the season. The Red Sox have a lot of potential to improve, but they aren’t at full strength.
The Red Sox do not appear to be returning to full strength anytime soon, so there is a potential that things will alter and the club will begin to suffer. Hopefully, that won’t be the case. If it happens, the Red Sox will most likely be sellers before the trade deadline, unless they are still in playoff contention.
Kenley Jansen, a star closer, is frequently referenced in trade rumors. The four-time All-Star is one of baseball’s top closers and has started the season well, but he could be transferred.
It appeared that he would be traded before Spring Training, but the club finally kept him. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been mentioned again by Jon Heyman of the New York Post as a potential alternative before the deadline.
“Kenley Jansen is the player that comes to mind,” Heyman stated. “He was a long-time Dodger who began with the Dodgers. He does not appear to be a good fit with the Red Sox right now. The Red Sox have a good record right now, but it doesn’t appear that they are attempting to win the division, and I believe he would be pleased to be traded at this moment.
It would not be surprising to see Jansen traded, and the Dodgers make a lot of sense. He played the first 12 seasons of his career in Los Angeles. Don’t be shocked if speculation increases.
