Important Red Sox Piece Is Supposedly Not Going Anywhere In spite of rumors
It appears that the key offensive component for the Red Sox won’t be leaving anytime soon.
Over the next few months, the Boston Red Sox will have to make some difficult choices.
Boston is now 26–25 on the season and has the talent to be buyers before the trade deadline, but its current record doesn’t quite match that. This season, the Red Sox have had a variety of injuries.
The Red Sox may definitely contend for a postseason position if they can quickly regain health, but their depth is being put to the test. At this point, anything may happen, and Boston might be the buyers or the seller.
Star closer Kenley Jansen is undoubtedly Boston’s most valuable trade addition, but other players have also been floated as possibilities. Masataka Yoshida, an outfielder and designated hitter, is one player who has been linked to a trade during the past year. Although this is the case, Jim Bowden of The Athletic says it appears he isn’t going away.
“Yoshida is not tradeable under that contract, even if the Red Sox pay a sizable portion of the outstanding debt, as they have committed $90 million to him through 2027,” Bowden stated. “His power and speed are below average for a defender. His ability to make contact, advance to base, and seldom strike out are his strongest traits. However, he doesn’t provide much offensive damage, at least not enough for teams to desire to use him as their everyday designated hitter. To put it briefly, I don’t see him leaving.”
Yoshida is now sidelined due to a thumb injury, but he should return soon. The season started off badly for him, but he turned things around just before he hurt his thumb. Yoshida might be the spark that the Boston offense needs to get back on track. It also seems that he has no intention of leaving anytime soon.
