According to Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora, superstar third baseman Rafael Devers won’t be playing in next week’s All-Star Game.

Superstar third baseman Rafael Devers has informed Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora that he will not be playing in the upcoming Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

The Boston Herald’s Gabrielle Starr claims that Devers’s current health is the reason behind this.

Cora:

“He’s been grinding through a few things, especially his left shoulder, so you know, as a group we believe that this is a good time for him to get some rest and take care of it.”

Devers has struggled with shoulder pain almost the whole season; it is thought that the ailment began during spring training. Devers even missed games in the season’s opening series because of it. Devers is having yet another incredible season in spite of his shoulder troubles. With 21 home runs and 55 RBI, he is hitting.293 for the Red Sox, who have quietly moved up into the third wild card spot in the American League with their recent play.

Devers was selected for his third All-Star Game; he was nearly included in the squad in 2021 and 2022. Devers has served eight years and is a lifetime member.193 home runs have been hit by 281 batters. He was also a part of the Red Sox’s 2018 World Series victory.

Tuesday night marks the Red Sox’s return to play; first pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. At Fenway Park, they will play the Oakland Athletics. Brayan Bello will take the mound for Boston against right-hander Joey Estes.
