Following his knockout victory over Otto Wallin on Thursday, Anthony Joshua moved up in Ring Magazine’s most recent heavyweight rankings, while Deontay Wilder saw a notable decline.
In 12 rounds, Wilder was thoroughly outmatched and lost badly to Joseph Parker in Riyadh. On the “Day of Reckoning” show in Saudi Arabia, six boxers from the new Top 10 ranking competed.
In the two main bouts, Joshua stopped Wallin following five rounds of action in the ring, and Parker outclassed Wilder for a wide unanimous decision.
As a result, the British-Nigerian overtook the American and moved up to the second rank.
Oleksandr Usyk is presently ranked #1, with Tyson Fury one position below him in the “champion” rankings. Joseph Parker, Joshua, and Zhilei Zhang take the next three (second, third, and fourth) spots, respectively.
Due to the Parker defeat, Wilder has fallen all the way to number nine, with a 1-3 record going back to 2019.
Notably, Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgović, ranked sixth, stunned spectators with a first-round knockout on the “Day of Reckoning.” Jared Anderson, Joe Joyce, Agit Kabayel, and Frank Sanchez occupy the remaining spots in the Top 10.
