Terence Crawford said that Jon Ennis turned down two opportunities for a fight; hence, he has ruled out a bout with him.
After Crawford defeated Errol Spence Jr., Ennis, the IBF interim champion, became mandatory for Crawford’s undisputed title. The champion is required by IBF regulations to mount their initial defense against the mandatory. Crawford and Spence had a rematch clause, which prevented that from happening. It was turned on by The Truth following the defeat, signifying his intention to turn things around. Thus, Crawford lost the IBF title before Ennis was crowned the official champion. Crawford has been accused by Ennis’ camp of sidestepping a brawl during this time.
Crawford versus Ennis
“Bud had the chance to fight me, and he still does, but you would prefer that they take away your title and give it to me because you don’t want to fight me that much. Ennis said, “That stunt you pulled through, lol.”
However, Crawford has since disclosed that Ennis declined multiple opportunities to face him.
“As I already stated, @JaronEnnis had two chances to challenge me. We are discussing a child who continues to fight in the theater. Make sense of it,” Crawford murmured.
It seems logical that Ennis would want to fight Crawford. It’s an opportunity to take on the finest players of his generation and earn a sizable salary. Crawford also acknowledged that he had difficulty hitting 147 and that Bud, who is 36 years old, is not getting any younger.
Crawford may not be as motivated as he once was now that he is the first unchallenged welterweight champion of the four-belt era. All of these are things that Ennis will definitely be depending on because he was still determined to get into the battle.
Ennis said, “You send it; I’ll sign it, @terencecrawford.”
Ennis’s Choices
Crawford then turns his attention to the bout with Spence, allowing Ennis to consider alternative possibilities. He’s positioned himself to win every title in the event that Crawford withdraws and increases his weight to 154 pounds. The WBC interim welterweight champion, Mario Barrios, is a match that appeals to Ennis’ team.
After Barrios defeated Yorenis Ugas in his most recent fight, they discussed his credentials. The Crawford fight appears much further off if that fight goes through because Bud wants to become the undisputed three-weight champion. Crawford, however, responded sharply to those who were critical of him, emphasizing that he has never backed down from a battle.
“Love it or hate it?” That’s just the guy I am. What does it tell you when a warrior opens their mouth and says, “My name is in it”? I would like to fight more than once a year, but these men have been hiding and running for a long time. Nothing about boxing reminds me of the days when everyone was fighting one another. The gym is my home. However, throughout my entire career, these fighters have been trailing people and yelling, “Call this guy, call that guy,” or “I’m on the wrong side of the street.” Make sense of it,” Crawford said.
