With a torn bicep, Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano will miss the most of the season, the team’s coach Sean McDermott announced on Thursday. The story was first broken earlier in the day by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Just two months after being cleared to resume practice following a leg injury from the previous season, Milano departed practice early on Tuesday with what appeared to be an ailment. The 29-year-old Milano is expected to have surgery and attempt to return later this year—possibly as early as December, according to Schefter.
At a press conference on Thursday, McDermott acknowledged Milano’s injury, describing it as a “unfortunate scenario” and assuring fans that the club was behind him. According to McDermott, the group thinks Milano was hurt during a tackling exercise.
“Matt is a young guy of strength. “I’m confident he’ll manage this,” McDermott remarked. He’s tough; we all need to be tough. We must proceed and maintain our attention on the solutions.”
Coach McDermott: Matt Milano’s bicep injury is the source of some regretful news. We are all here to support him since he is a strong individual.
After breaking his leg in Week 5, Milano, who has been a member of the Bills since 2017, missed the most of the 2023 season. Milano was named an All-Pro in 2022. With 30 tackles before the injury, he was expected to have another excellent season.
With injuries mounting on the defensive side, it’s a serious blow to the Bills. After getting hurt during practice, safeties Mike Edwards (hamstring) and Cole Bishop (shoulder) are both week-to-week. Ed Oliver, a defensive tackle, departed last Saturday’s preseason game due to a knee injury, but he has since returned to camp.
The Buffalo Bills are facing a challenging period with linebacker Matt Milano sidelined indefinitely due to a biceps injury that requires surgery. Meanwhile, the team recently tried out former No. 5 overall pick Corey Davis as he seeks an NFL comeback. In preseason action, the Bills suffered a 33-6 loss to the Chicago Bears. On a positive note, construction of the new Highmark Stadium is progressing well, promising an upgraded home for the team in the near future.
