World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz is excited to play doubles at the Olympics in Paris alongside 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal because he sees it as a great learning experience.
The 21-year-old will play in both singles and doubles at the Games. He most recently won his maiden French Open championship at Roland Garros.
2008 Olympic singles gold and 2016 doubles gold went to 38-year-old Rafael Nadal. It will be his third time attending the Games.
Alcaraz told reporters on Monday, “I didn’t anticipate to play doubles in the Olympic Games with Rafa.” “I am really thrilled about it, even if it is a unique time for me. It should be a lot of fun, but we’ll have to wait and see.
In all honesty, I think he will teach me how to handle everything. I’m the young man who has to mature both personally and as a gamer.
“It will undoubtedly be my first Olympic Games. I’m hoping to learn a lot from him because everything is new to me.”
In order to train for the Olympics, Rafael Nadal will miss Wimbledon in July. Alcaraz, on the other hand, will play again later on Tuesday at the Queen’s Club Championships in London before beginning his championship defense at Wimbledon the following month.
The Queen’s Club Championships 2024 will include action on Day 2 including Sebastian Korda, Taylor Fritz, and other athletes.
The 2024 Queen’s Club Championships have started, and tennis enthusiasts are set to see a couple of intense matches in the preliminary round. Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo will face the reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz, as Andy Murray is gradually approaching retirement. Let’s look at the predictions for Day 2 of the Queen’s Club Championships now, without further ado:
Karen Khachanov vs. Sebastian Korda
On paper, Sebastian Korda vs. Karen Khachanov of Russia looks like an incredible matchup. Khachanov enjoys playing power-based games and is an attacking baseliner. Korda, on the other hand, like to play aggressive tennis, but instead of staying on the baseline, he drives the ball into the net.
Korda suffered heartbreak at the Libema Open, where he suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss against Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the final. However, the American looked fresh throughout the campaign. Meanwhile, Khachanov was eliminated in the second round of the tournament.
