a preview of Tennessee baseball’s College World Series rematch with Florida State
Omaha, Nebraska — Baseball in Tennessee is just one victory away from the College World Series championship. Florida State is the team still in the way.
The Vols, who are ranked first overall, had Monday and Tuesday off after winning the College World Series 2-0. Tuesday’s victory by the eighth-seeded Seminoles against North Carolina secured a rematch with Tennessee. To advance, they must overcome Tennessee twice.
The game has already been rescheduled due to the unfavorable outlook for Wednesday.
Zander Sechrist, a lefty, will take the mound in Omaha for the first time in his professional career. On Tuesday, head coach Tony Vitello announced that Sechrist will start the game against Florida State.
“He wasn’t able to throw here last year,” Vitello remarked. “So, I’m excited to see him out there on the mound and he will start for us for my piece of mind. And after that, his actions are consistent yet varied each day. Therefore, our goal in the first inning is to get three outs as soon as possible, regardless of who is on base, whether it’s Chris Stamos or someone else.
“I believe it helps you grasp what you’re looking at a little bit, but every day is unique, especially on this particular day. Every opponent you face that day will have a different starting pitcher available, a different group of relievers, and a different attitude as well. Once more, each day has a unique taste.”
Since the outbreak, property prices in Gallatin, Tennessee, have increased by two thirds. One local commissioner, enraged by surrounding homebuilding, declared that she “lives in hell.” Since so many Californians have relocated to the rapidly growing state, many worry that their left-leaning ideologies have followed them, and lawn banners accuse the “greedy developers” of displacing farmers..
Due to rapid migration, the population of the US South has increased by 2.7 million, or the equivalent of Chicago’s population, and as a result, Tennessee and several of its neighbors are experiencing an anti-growth reaction. Passions are running hot in a way that transcends ordinary nimbyism as traffic jams occur in once-sleepy downtowns, apartment buildings take the place of meadows, and municipal water systems struggle under increased demand.
