The harsh statement made by Carlos Alcaraz following his return from an injury layoff
The 19-year-old Spaniard, who had recently returned to the ATP Tour, made the heartbreaking statement.
Due to a hamstring injury, Carlos Alcaraz (pictured) has stated he would not be participating in the Mexican Open in Acapulco.
Carlos Alcaraz, who missed the Australian Open due to a recurrent leg injury, has stated that he would not be participating in the Mexican Open in Acapulco.
The world number two just recently made a comeback to tennis in February, having missed the Australian Open because of a pre-season leg injury.
After missing over four months, the 19-year-old Spaniard had a triumphant comeback at the Argentina Open, winning the ATP 250 title. He qualified for the Rio Open finals after his triumphant comeback on clay, but he hobbled his way to a loss to Cameron Norrie, a British pro.
After the game, Alcaraz acknowledged that he was in discomfort, which is why he called the trainer instead of taking an injury break. After the game, Alcaraz remarked, “It’s tough to experience discomfort in the same muscle you had an injury in a few months earlier.”
“I’d really like to travel to Acapulco and perform for the Mexican audience.I’ll give it my all.”
Sadly, Alcaraz has revealed that he has withdrew from Acapulco after straining his hamstring during the championship match. “I’m sorry, but I will not be participating in the Mexican Open. My right hamstring has a Grade 1 strain, which will prevent me from moving for a few days,” Alcaraz stated.
“While I’m very sorry that I can’t compete, it’s time to focus on getting better and getting ready as soon as possible. I hope to see everyone shortly.”
Although I’m very sorry that I can’t compete here, it’s time to focus on getting better and getting ready as soon as possible. I’ll hopefully see everyone soon! ❤️🇲🇽
The tennis community responds to Carlos Alcaraz’s declaration.
Some fans are unsure if Alcaraz will be ready for Indian Wells after his most recent update. The 19-year-old won the Miami Open after making it to the semifinals of the ATP 1000 competition the previous year.
In order to protect his ranking points heading into the clay court season, the World No. 2 would be competing to be fit for the two events. Having only recently made a comeback to the ATP Tour, tennis fans were eager to wish the 19-year-old a rapid recovery.
