On the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase contract front, there seems to be some major movement.
According to a recent report by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the organization has intensified its attempts to finalize an extension before to the start of Week 1 practice.
“The Bengals have stepped up their efforts to try to finish this in recent days, from what I’m hearing. Fowler stated on ESPN that “they are hoping to try and get him back onto the practice field.” “There is nothing approaching. The people I’ve spoken to within the facility are largely upbeat and hopeful. In the locker room, there’s a sense that they can bring him back. However, they must see this through to the end.”
It’s not that startling, this. Although Chase’s rookie deal has two years remaining, which complicates things structurally, the major three players who are now in front of him on the market—Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb, and Brandon Aiyuk—are all gone.
Chase is next, who just gave the Bengals a very obvious message by ceasing to participate in recent sessions. That was following Zac Taylor’s suggestion that everything was back to normal.
Even though Chase is using all of his remaining power, the Bengals have no excuse for not acting quickly to prevent problems. Given how quickly the market swings, Chase deserves and will probably match or perhaps marginally surpass Jefferson’s figure. If that occurs, he won’t be in the top spot by this time next year.
This is the first reliable account of this story’s inner workings that we have seen in a long time. It’s encouraging that the Bengals are putting forth more effort. Although there’s a risk that negotiations will continue until the following summer, the team has a history of closing deals with stars in the final moments before the season begins.
