The 26-year-old quarterback did not eventually return to the field; instead, he warmed up on the sidelines.
Burrow’s season was prematurely ended by his coach, Zac Taylor, at a news conference on Friday. The injury was described as “acute” and occurred “probably on the play before his last one.”Burrow tore a ligament in his wrist, which will “probably require surgery and necessitate him to be out for the remainder of the season,” according to Taylor’s explanation.

Although Burrow’s ailment became evident when he faltered to complete a touchdown pass to Joe Mixon for four yards on his final play, the Bengals organization’s video footage from Wednesday suggested they were aware of Burrow’s wrist problems before the game. The video was then taken off social media after WCPO published it again on X (previously Twitter), slowing down and zooming in to reveal Burrow holding something in his hand.
