Harrison is a 13-year big league veteran who attended Princeton High School and the University of Cincinnati. He was named an All-Star in 2014 and 2017.

Harrison has been a useful bench player over the past few seasons, playing for three different teams from 2020 to 2022.

Harrison agreed to a $2 million, one-year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies last year. Before being released by the Phillies, he had appeared in 40 games and only hit.204.

2024 Cincinnati Reds: As spring training gets underway, here’s why the National League Central is the most intriguing MLB division.

Harrison might support the Reds front office in fortifying a spot on the depth chart that has been under evaluation during the winter.

The majority of the Reds’ minor league depth infield from the previous season was lost. Harrison joins the Reds’ minor league roster of seasoned infielders Mark Mathias, Hernán Pérez, and Erik González.

Deep infield depth for the Reds also includes prospects Tyler Callihan, Austin Callahan, and Alex McGarry at the highest levels of the minor league ranks.

Nick Solak, Jason Vosler, Alejo Lopez, and Matt Reynolds were some of the players in these positions heading into spring training the previous year.

2015 saw Harrison’s induction into the Bearcats Hall of Fame. He was selected a second team All-American and the 2008 Big East Co-Player of the Year at the University of Cincinnati.

Harrison, 36, is the younger brother of Vince Harrison, manager of the Dayton Dragons.
