Alongside Carlos Alcaraz, 20-year-old American Coco Gauff created tennis history by reaching a dizzying new height.

The 20-year-old American sensation is currently ranked No. 2 in the world, only behind Iga Swiatek of Poland, who defeated Gauff on the court at Roland Garros.

Gauff accomplished something genuinely exceptional when paired with the updated men’s ATP rankings.

The top two players in the ATP and WTA rankings were all born in the 2000s, a first for the sport.

On the men’s side, No. 1 is Jannik Sinner (22), placed second is Carlos Alcaraz, winner of the French Open.

In 2001, Sinner and Swiatek were born.

Gauff didn’t come into the world until 2004, although Alcaraz was born in 2003.

The men’s game is changing dramatically at the top as Rafael Nadal nears the conclusion of his career and Novak Djokovic recovers from a knee injury.

The only thing preventing Gauff from continuing to rise on the women’s side is Swiateke

A admirer tweeted, “True shifting of the guard.”

One admirer remarked, “The 21st Century taking over.”

“Wow!” said a third admirer. “It’s amazing to see the younger generation taking the lead, even though it makes me feel old.” I wonder who will make it big next.”

In 2023, Alcaraz overcame Djokovic to win the men’s title. The vintage tournament’s women’s division was won by Marketa Vondrousova.

Atlanta is the birthplace of Gauff, who has made almost $14 million from the tour.

When the game returns to Wimbledon in July, she will be favored.
