Manchester United had earlier asked West Ham to up their bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka with the Hammers poised to make a new ‘take or leave it offer’.

The London outfit have been active in the market under new boss Julen Lopetegui, bringing in several players, and the right-back is among the targets they still haven’t secured. After seeing a bid rejected United made it clear to their Premier League rivals that they want £18million for his services, reports the Daily Mail.

Wan-Bissaka has entered the final 12 months of his deal and United are ready to move him on, which will aid their own pursuit of new signings. They and West Ham remain apart in their valuation of the player, though, as they continue to try and seek an agreement.

The former Crystal Palace man is still being used by United during their pre-season tour of the US – although that is in part down to their lack of fit and available players.

Erik ten Hag is looking to land Noussair Mazraoui, the Bayern Munich right-back, and offloading Wan-Bissaka will enable them to shake up their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Matthijs de Ligt is another Bayern player on the radar at Old Trafford as they look to bolster their squad. Leny Yoro was a statement signing but the teenager suffered an injury blow on his debut and is now poised to be on the sidelines for weeks after suffering a foot injury.

That could force Ten Hag back into the market as he looks to solve the defensive issues that plagued them last term. Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite is another player they admire, but the Toffees want £70m for the defender and have already rejected several bids.
