Curlers Katherine Schmidt and Jacob Schmidt grew up together and have a unique relationship that only comes from family.
The Holte, Denmark, siblings have already demonstrated the potential of their brother-sister bond by winning a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the Danish Championship last year, defeating more seasoned pairings. A few weeks later, at the unofficial U21 World Championship, they won another bronze medal.
Jacob, 17, and Katrine, 15, are now prepared to compete in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon, 2024.
How do things stand between them both on and off the hockey rink?
Jacob Schmidt stated to Olympics.com, “We know each other very well, and of course there is always a bit of sibling love and such.” Overall, I believe that having some sense of when to speak up and when to remain silent is a pretty significant benefit. We are also adept at supporting one another.
His sister Katrine continues, “It can be a little challenging when we disagree with each other, but in some ways, it’s a little easier when we know each other that well.” In any event, I believe it’s good, and handling him when he’s upset or joyful is a little bit simpler.
