Former NFL cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested early Saturday morning in Arlington and is facing charges of public intoxication and assault of a peace officer. Other charges include evading arrest and resisting arrest.
A video obtained by TMZ, released on Saturday, appears to show Jones being handcuffed by multiple officers. Jail records confirm Jones was booked into Arlington’s city jail in the early hours of Saturday.
According to Arlington police, the incident began when an off-duty officer working at the Live by Loews hotel, near AT&T Stadium, was alerted to a fight in the bar area around 1 a.m. Upon the officer’s arrival, the individuals involved, including Jones, had been separated. However, police report that Jones continued to confront others involved, prompting the officer to warn him he would be arrested if he tried to reignite the fight.
Shortly after, another altercation involving Jones occurred in the bar, during which he allegedly struck the officer’s arm. Police stated that as the officer attempted to detain Jones, he briefly broke free and walked away before being subdued with the help of additional officers.
In the video, Jones is wearing the same outfit seen in an Instagram post he shared Friday evening. He appeared to be in North Texas for the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson fight at AT&T Stadium, which was livestreamed on Netflix. Posts on his Instagram story include discussions about the fight and a photo with the stadium in the background.
A representative for Jones denied the allegations, telling TMZ that Jones had been enjoying himself like many others at the fight and was not looking for trouble.
Jones, 41, had a 12-season NFL career, primarily with the Cincinnati Bengals, and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2015 and a first-team All-Pro in 2014. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, and Tennessee Titans, who drafted him sixth overall in 2005. Before his NFL career, Jones played college football at West Virginia University.
Jones has a history of legal troubles, with multiple arrests during and after his NFL career, as well as suspensions, including one that cost him the entire 2007 season.
