Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott targets three picks in the 2024 NFL Draft
Media members have been talking about the Dallas Cowboys a lot as the 2024 NFL Draft draws near. Dallas has been criticized for not moving throughout the summer, so it’s interesting to consider if the team will soon opt to start over.
In order to accomplish this, a team usually has to select a quarterback of the future in the draft. Tony Catalina of SB Nation identified three quarterbacks who meet this criteria: Joe Milton of Tennessee, Austin Reed of Western Kentucky, and Jordan Travis of Florida State.
Before sustaining a leg injury against North Alabama that changed the course of the College Football Playoffs, Jordan Travis had the best season of his Florida State career.
His time with the Seminoles came to an end when he was injured for the rest of the season, setting up a difficult journey to the NFL.
Travis is a quarterback with two threats. Years ago, Travis relied far too much on his legs; as a passer, he improved. With 2,756 yards, 20 touchdowns, and two interceptions at the end of his final season. He also scored seven touchdowns on rushes.
Joe Milton possesses all the arm strength a team could ask for, but during his college career, he struggled with accuracy.
After assuming the starting position at Tennessee, there was hope he might address that weakness, but his inconsistent performance persisted. With NFL coaches and an endless supply of resources, that might alter.
Without a doubt the greatest arm in the draft, Milton will challenge Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes’ combined cannon. Can he, however, make the accurate passes? We’ll find out in time.
You most likely don’t know who Austin Reed is if you don’t watch college football. If so, you are aware that, had he decided to transfer, he could have enrolled at the majority of Power Five universities. Rather than considering other possibilities, he opted to remain faithful to Western Kentucky and filled the stat book for a second straight season.
After throwing for 4,744 yards, 40 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2022, he finished the previous season with 3,340 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Is the main goal of this plan to replace Dak Prescott, who is entering the last year of his contract? Not really; the man isn’t expected to be a late-round choice. Is it wise to throw a dart at the quarterback position, though? Yes, almost usually.
