McCarthy was hospitalized and diagnosed with appendicitis, a condition in which the appendix becomes inflamed and fills with pus.
McCarthy was scheduled for and had surgery later that day.
McCarthy was back on the phone with his assistant coaches and quarterback, Dak Prescott, the same evening he was released from the hospital.McCarthy spoke with staff and players virtually the following day.
McCarthy returned to The Star, the Dallas Cowboys’ World Headquarters and practice facility in Frisco, Texas, on Friday, December 8, two days after his surgery.
