Jimmy Johnson says he is back in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ good graces.
Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson, former Dallas Cowboys coach, reconciled after Johnson was honored into the franchise’s Ring of Honor last season. And now, after nearly 30 years, Johnson looks to have joined Jones’ inner circle.
However, how serious he is about it is debatable.
According to the Cowboys Club website, Johnson stated on WQAM 560 AM in Miami that he is now a member of Jerry Jones’ advisory board, presumably with a sarcastic tone.
Johnson repeated the line with a chuckle, but then added that the two were back to talking football.
Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, speaks with former coach Jimmy Johnson at the Ring of Honor ceremony at AT&T Stadium during halftime against the Detroit Lions.
“We were chatting on the phone about an hour after his Green Bay loss, and he was talking about everything he needed to do because he had important decisions to make with Mike McCarthy, Dan Quinn, and Dak Prescott,” Johnson added. “Everything is fine now.” “I’m back with the Cowboys.”
Johnson was referring to the Cowboys’ disappointing 48-32 wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers in January.
The extent of Johnson’s involvement with the Cowboys is likely to remain unknown, but at the very least, the two Hall of Famers’ feud is over.
