Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is happy to announce the arrival of a new kid.
“Hopeful” for a contract extension, Jason Kidd leads the Dallas Mavericks to become a title contender.
According to reports, Jason Kidd is “hopeful” for a contract extension this summer, but whether or not that happens may depend on how well the Dallas Mavericks play in the postseason.
The Dallas Mavericks, who dropped to 26-23 on the season after a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on February 3, are in a far better place now.
The Mavericks are 17-6 since then and have won nine of their previous ten games coming into their rematch with the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
In addition to increasing Luka Doncic’s chances of winning MVP, Dallas’ late-season surge has allegedly made Mavs head coach Jason Kidd “hopeful” about getting extended contract in the offseason.
Sam Amick of The Athletic stated, “Doncic, who is in the thick of the MVP race yet again, is guiding a club that has been dominant of late.”
“Doncic benefits greatly from Irving’s offensive balance. Irving is playing excellent basketball. Additionally, league sources claim that Kidd is optimistic about getting an extension this summer.

While Kidd’s eccentricities may irritate the Mavs fan base, there’s no denying his ability to coach defense when he has players on the team who can play it.
The Mavs made it to the Western Conference Finals in the 2022 playoffs, when they featured the finest versions of Reggie Bullock and Dorian Finney-Smith.
However, their inability to field a deep frontcourt lineup ultimately proved to be their downfall against the eventual winners, the Golden State Warriors.
Having missed the playoffs in 2022–23 due to a dismal season, Dallas is now in a position to maximize Kidd’s abilities and make another long postseason run.
With the arrivals of Dereck Lively II, Dante Exum, and Derrick Jones Jr. over the summer, as well as the trade acquisitions of Daniel Gafford and P.J.
Washington, the Mavs’ squad composition has significantly changed from the year that followed their West Finals run.
Gafford declared, “This crew is outstanding,” during the most recent episode of Devin Harris’s Top Shelf. “Night in and night out, we undoubtedly possess a great deal of depth and fire in our hearts.
I imagine us making it all the way to the championship game, if only for the obvious reason that I felt at ease the moment I arrived. It seemed as though I was the peanut butter and the bread already had jelly on it.
We just assembled [quickly]. The chemistry is developing. As the games progress, the chemistry is becoming stronger. I think it’s real.”
The Mavs have the second-best defense, the fifth-best offense, and the fourth-best net rating in their last ten games.
That’s the hallmark of a legitimate title contender, and Kidd will have an easier time getting that contract extension over the summer if the Mavs end up demonstrating that potential in the postseason.
