Maxi Kleber might make his Dallas Mavericks debut today as they attempt to defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves in three games to secure a trip to the NBA Finals under Jason Kidd’s coaching.
What kind of injury does Kleber suffer?
Kleber’s injury status has been upgraded by the Mavericks from out to questionable ahead of Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. After sustaining a right shoulder AC joint separation in Game 6 of Dallas’ first-round series against the Los Angeles Clippers, the power forward hasn’t appeared on the court since May 3.
The Mavericks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2 in the Conference Semi-Finals, which the German missed in its entirety. He has also missed the first three Conference Finals games, which he watched from the sidelines. Dallas leads the series 3-0 with their 116-107 victory against the Timberwolves on Sunday at American Airlines Center. A victory in Texas today will complete a 4-0 rout of the Timberwolves.
Will Kleber suit up for Dallas today?
Participating in Monday’s Mavericks practice, Kleber is said to have a strong chance of returning to the court today. NBA insider Marc Stein claims the 32-year-old is “on schedule to make his comeback to the lineup” in Game 4, citing league sources.
Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber (shoulder separation) is expected to play in tonight’s Game 4 of the Western Conference finals, barring a last-minute setback. He hasn’t played since May 3, according to league sources that were provided to @TheSteinLine.
Luka Doncic of the Mavericks is once again classified as questionable today due to his right knee sprain and left ankle pain. Before breaking his ankle in Game 2 against the Thunder, Doncic developed a knee issue in Game 3 against the Clippers.
Doncic has participated in every postseason matchup thus far, despite his continuous fitness problems. He scored 33 points in Dallas’ victory over the Timberwolves in Game 3 this past weekend. In the 15 games he has played in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, he has averaged 29.3 points.
Due to a neck sprain he suffered in a collision with Karl-Anthony Towns of Minnesota on Sunday, Dereck Lively II is listed as doubtful for Game 4.
Due to injury, Olivier Maxence-Prosper is still sidelined for Dallas. The Canadian has been out since late April with an ankle issue.
