Unbeknownst to the general public, cornerback Kristian Fulton, who was a free agent at the time, engaged in a mini-bid war before agreeing to a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Chargers last Friday.
The former Tennessee Titans starter reportedly turned down offers from three other clubs, including the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport, before deciding for Jim Harbaugh’s Bolts.
Fulton, 25, was chosen as the 61st overall choice in the 2020 NFL draft and is about to begin his fifth season.
For the Titans, he played in 42 games and recorded 2,237 defensive snaps with 25 pass deflections and 4 interceptions.
Fulton finished the previous season ranked 118th out of 127 qualifying CBs by Pro Football Focus.

Fulton’s decision to go with a contender instead of slogging it out with a rebuilding team is not shocking.
However, given that the team has been so selective in free agency, mostly due to circumstances, it is telling that Denver would be in the running for his services.
Pro Bowler Patrick Surtain II and developing slot player Ja’Quan McMillian lead the Broncos’ cornerback room, but with 2023 starter Fabian Moreau gone and a host of questionable but inconsistent talent (C, Riley Moss, Tremon Smith, Art Green, Reese Taylor) making up the rest of the depth chart, there is an obvious need for a boundary defender.
That boundary defender was not deployed to Fulton. They might give it another go with a different veteran who is available, or they might decide to tackle the position in the draft that takes place the following month.
Regarding the Denver Broncos and their readiness for the impending NFL Draft in April, the talk hasn’t stopped.
About a month remains until the much-awaited day, and some important information from the team’s front office is starting to come to light.
What will be most important in the upcoming weeks for a team that is obviously looking to add a quarterback of the future is how the Broncos approach this draft process and whatever signal caller they may choose to target.
With the 12th overall pick in the first round, they are stuck down the board and cannot be sure they will get the player they want. Nevertheless, the staff is searching high and low for this offensive unit’s future boss.
According to Andrew Mason of the Detroit News, head coach Sean Payton disclosed to the media on Monday that he and Michigan’s J.J.
McCarthy had a private meeting the day following McCarthy’s Pro Day during which they spent a significant amount of time together.
