Kevin Zeitler Responds to Trending Video and Talks About His Role with Lions
The Lions reached out to the veteran as soon as free agency began.
Veteran offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler was a target for the Detroit Lions early in the free agency process.
Despite the delay in reaching a speedy deal, the veteran told local reporters via video conference that he is excited to be a part of a winning team with a wealth of offensive line quality.
“Lions made it clear they wanted me to come here immediately by reaching out to me in free agency,” Zeitler remarked. “I’m happy to be here, even though it took a little longer than we anticipated. Everything turned out okay. Meeting everyone today is so thrilling, and I made the right choice.”
During his exhaustive film study, the 34-year-old, who played for the Ravens the previous season, noticed Detroit’s potent offense.
Fortunately, we have a ton of cross-promotional footage from last season, including NFC games, Lions, Ravens, and other events, said Zeitler. “After seeing them on TV and in movies, I realized that they enjoyed running the ball. Games are being dominated by them. It’s all quite wonderful. I’m grateful that the group asked me to take part in that. And all I want to do is make sure I come in here, work hard, and continue to uphold the standards that have been established here.”
The veteran is aware that he will play right guard in Detroit, where he has spent a significant amount of his playing career.

Robert Griffin, a former NFL quarterback and pundit, posted a video of Zeitler doing pass-blocking sets even while his wife was giving birth.
Zeitler said he thought it was humorous that the video went viral because his wife had taken it two years prior while he was not looking.
“We were there two years ago when my wife went into labor for our second daughter. We’ve been hanging about for a long time, so everyone who knows me knows I’ll pass set anyplace, anytime,” Zeitler remarked. It was still early in the process, so nothing spectacular had happened yet. “And she found it humorous when I started doing it in there.”
Using the offensive line of the Lions
For any player, especially a seasoned NFL veteran, playing with Frank Ragnow and Penei Sewell may be gratifying.
It’s fantastic. It goes without saying that you can’t get much better than those two superstars if you want to play alongside great players,” Zeitler added. “I will therefore introduce myself and make every effort to elevate my status in order to ensure that we do our work properly.”
