Detroit Lions

The NFL said on Monday that a former cornerback for the Detroit Lions has been suspended for eight games without pay for breaking the league’s personal conduct policy.
After the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 8 matchup with the New York Giants, on October 29, Cameron Sutton, who is now a member of the team, will be eligible to make a comeback.
The 29-year-old Sutton started all 65 of the Lions’ games during the previous campaign, logging 50 solo tackles, one interception, six passes defensed, and one forced fumble.
With a redesigned Detroit secondary, he was expected to be among the team’s starters in 2024. However, the Lions cut him loose in March following the issuance of an arrest warrant for domestic assault in Florida.
Sutton was sought after by police for several weeks before he finally handed himself in on March 31. He is charged of assaulting a female in a Hillsborough County, Florida, residence before escaping the area.
In 2023, Sutton signed a three-year, $33 million contract with the Lions. He was one year into the pact. Last month, he agreed to a one-year contract with the Steelers.
Pittsburgh was home to him for the first six years of his career.
