It appears that the Detroit Lions will select a wide receiver in the NFL Draft of 2024.

The NFL Combine is still going on, and some of the events taking place in Indianapolis are noteworthy. This week, representatives from almost every position group have addressed the media, and the position of receiver has drawn the greatest attention from Lions media members.

Part of the reason for that is that Brad Holmes has demonstrated both his fondness for offensive weaponry and his unpredictability during the draft. The other aspect is that this receiver class is not too bad.

Because it was so good the previous year, the Lions offense may appear flawless, but they do not have a clear-cut number two receiver.

They simply lack an athletic wide receiver with the necessary size to make contested catches in the red zone or inflict harm on defense.

The Lions still require assistance, even though indications from Indianapolis indicate that Jameson Williams is set to make a significant breakthrough in 2019.

This week, they’re searching for that assistance. During the NFL Combine, we spoke with a number of receivers, and three of the biggest receivers in the building revealed that they had official meetings with the Lions.

Those three were Brian Thomas of LSU, Xavier Leggette of South Carolina, and Tez Walker of North Carolina.

Those guys are all different from one another except in size. All of them are really large. Walker is six feet two inches, Leggette is six feet three inches, and Thomas is six feet four inches. Additionally, Jalen McMillan, a 6-foot-1 Washington receiver, had a casual visit with the Lions.

All of these receivers are predicted to be selected early in the NFL Draft in 2024. Leggette and Walker are projected to go in the second round, while Thomas is expected to go in the first. In light of everything we’ve seen this week, the Lions may try to replace that position quickly.

It aligns with the ideals of this squad. They have demands, but their assessment of the document differs from what you might anticipate.

Finding talent that they believe they can develop around and then resigning later on is the main goal of the draft, as opposed to only considering needs.

They are looking for players who can play any position, regardless of when experts believe such players should be picked.

Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if the Lions use their first or one of their earlier picks in the 2017 draft to choose a receiver. This would go under the category of building up, as they are all about that.
