In response to many recent injuries, the Detroit Lions revealed yet another round of roster changes.

Antoine Green, a receiver, has been waived with an injury classification first and foremost. In Thursday’s preseason game, Green had a neck injury and concussion; he was unable to play again. Green’s season will end if he clears waivers and goes back to Detroit’s injured reserve list (unless the Lions cut him after reaching an injury settlement).

In addition to Donovan Peoples-Jones and Daurice Fountain, Green has been a leading candidate for the Lions’ WR3 spot.

The Lions have also added quarterback Jake Fromm to their roster. Hendon Hooker also sustained a concussion in the preseason opener vs the New York Giants, which led to the addition. This week, Lions coach Dan Campbell stated that Hooker would probably be ready by Friday at the latest. As a result, the Lions will need to add a quarterback for their preseason game against the Chiefs on Saturday.

Regarding acquiring a quarterback, Campbell stated, “That could come down to the wire, today or tomorrow.” “A possibility exists. We’ve talked about it, and I think this afternoon we’ll have a very good notion of whether we should move forward with it to make sure we have a man other than Nate Sudfeld for the game.

The Bills selected Fromm in the fifth round of the 2020 draft. Only three games have he played in, all for the Giants in 2021. He was freed in May after spending his last time with the Commanders.

The Lions have signed linebacker Ty Summers and released Ike Boettger in addition to these two actions. Boettger was only added right before training camp began, thus his discharge might indicate that Christian Mahogany will soon be taking the field. Although Mahogany, who is currently on the non-football illness list, has returned to the building, Campbell pointed out that he still needs to get in better form before returning to the practice pitch.

Summers is a seasoned linebacker who was previously selected by the Packers in the seventh round. He has appeared in 67 games over the course of five seasons, primarily on special teams. Although he was with the Jaguars for the majority of this summer, he was released on Sunday. He played 12 defensive snaps and 7 special team snaps in the Jaguars’ opening preseason game, recording two tackles.
