Good News: Detroit Lions Head Coach Invite One Of His Player To Come And…

The Lions aren’t expected to get a compensatory draft pick in 2024.

Overthecap.com projects that the Detroit Lions will not be awarded any compensatory picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Three more compensatory selections were given to the front office and general manager Brad Holmes back in 2022.

NFL teams receive compensatory selections based on how many players they add to their roster and how much talent they lose via free agency.

Four qualifying free agents were lost by Detroit during the previous offseason: Evan Brown, Mike Hughes, Jamaal Williams, and D.J. Chark. The veteran Chris Board’s departure was not taken into consideration.

Detroit added David Montgomery, Emmanuel Moseley, Marvin Jones, Cam Sutton, and Ceedy Duce as qualified free agents.

Other NFL owners are becoming increasingly concerned that the 49ers are getting so many extra draft picks for the San Francisco 49ers because of new rules that favor teams that provide a pathway for minority executives and coaches.

ESPN reports that owners have expressed dissatisfaction to the league office with the excessive amount of compensatory choices that the 49ers have been awarded for acting as a conduit for executives and coaches of color.

Following the owners’ adoption of the rule, San Francisco has lost Mike McDaniel to the Dolphins, Ran Carthon to the Titans, DeMeco Ryans to the Texans, Robert Saleh to the Jets, and Martin Mayhew to the Commanders.
