There is definitely truth to the adage that every team meets with every player at the NFL Combine. However, each team at the combine is only given 45 minutes for official meetings for the entire week. That might seem like a lot, but teams need to be picky in their process because over 300 prospects are anticipated in Indianapolis.
And these official meetings are an essential element of a team like the Detroit Lions, which prioritizes character above all else. Consider coach Dan Campbell’s response when asked why he enjoys attending the NFL Combine:
“What I truly look forward to is the interview process—to get to know these people,” Campbell remarked. “You’ll be able to watch the film, watch the combine, and watch them work out, but you’ll also be able to kind of feel their personality, their FBI (football intelligence), their problem-solving skills, and stuff like that. I am aware that’s my true advantage.
And as anyone who has watched the Lions-produced series “Inside the Den” knows, these sessions at the NFL Combine provide a comprehensive character evaluation for many of the guys the organization has picked.
Thus, during the NFL Combine week, we will be monitoring every visit that the Lions have recorded, as well as any additional pre-draft visits, such as “top-30” visits, local pro days, or unofficial meetings that may occur.
We’ll add the news source and indicate the type of visit, and the tracker will sort based on both position and visit type.
